Center for Adolescent Girls and Youth Health Program (CAGYHP) is an independent community-based organization established in the year 2023, with its operation in Gem-sub-county and larger Siaya county. With many aspects under wider umbrella of reproductive Health, Maternal Child Health; Maternal Child Health, teenage pregnancies, sexual and gender-based violence, sexual transmitted infections, HIV and Aids prevention, Adolescents Health, Behavior and communication. CAGYHP is registered under community-based organization registration no: NO.SC/GM/YLA/TS/CBO/640 /2013by the Ministry of Gender, Children and social services development.

We support young people through leadership Training, skills development, mentorship programs and Civic Engagement initiatives.

We advocate for policy reforms and social justice by engaging with stakeholders, organizing campaigns, and amplifying community voices.

Our Target Population

CAGYHP target population includes adolescent girls and boys both in school and out of school, pregnant and young women with children below 6 years of age, children with disabilities, special population and minority. Women and senior citizens the elderly from Age 70 years and above within Siaya County.

OUR OBJECTIVES ON SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH 

REPRODUCTIVE, MATERNAL, NEWBORN CHILD, ADOLESCENT HEALTH

  • CAGYHP is to enable deprived children, youths and families and the entire community to meet their reproductive health rights and other basic needs to increase their ability to participate and benefit from their societies.
  • We are working towards building relationships with young people within community to understand their needs and culture in different areas.
  • We also implement sexual and reproductive health right services through specific interventions such as, social economic empowerment toward Poverty alleviation and promote Adolescent and young mother and father’s dignity to change the livelihood of our young girls and boys in Gem sub county, Siaya County.
  • We support nurturing care for early childhood development campaigns, HIV AND AIDS prevention, adolescent health, teenage pregnancies, behavior change and communication, improving services in poor and low resource settings which serve also vulnerable adolescent girls and Youths.
  • To provide Sexual and Reproductive Health Services to adolescent girls and youths in Siaya County.

  • To support the vulnerable senior citizens identified within the community, through regular medical checkups in collaboration with MOH, provide food, clothes and psychosocial support counseling based on need.
  • Operate an alternative rescue center for the victims of Gender based violence, vulnerable senior citizens from 70 years and above.
  • To provide Sexual and Reproductive Health Services to adolescent girls and youths in Siaya County.

ANTICIPATED OUTPUT 

 

  • Anticipated outcome on sexual and reproductive health rights and awareness creation targeting adolescent’s girls, boys and youths in Siaya County as the beneficiaries.
  • To strengthen private, public health facility Partnership, in collaboration with the Ministry of health for quality treatment, through integrated SRHR within service delivery points and empowerment of health care workers on quick response to Adolescent girls and boys through leverage on the universal healthcare for sustainable development.
  • CAGYHP will be focusing on rehabilitation of Adolescents, youths both in and out of schools who are affected by high economic status, people living with HIV who are first time teenage mothers on social economic development.
  • CAGYPH is strengthening ability of the AGYWs, through training on behavior change communication through updated modules and practical sessions in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, education and other key stakeholders.
  • This will enable them to come up with informed decisions, amidst their challenges.
  • Always pupils tend to drop out of school during their late stages of adolescence, therefore our focus is to offer life skills mentorship, coaching and refer them for vocational trainings in partnership with different stakeholders and ministry of education.
  • This approach will be targeting PLHIV young mothers, rehabilitated young men and women from different rescue centers.
  • We offer appropriate referrals to all adolescent girls and youths, based on their needs.
  • The psychosocial support will also be offered to senior citizens and guardians of the targeted AGYWs for moral support and material gifts if available for those guardians staying with OVCs etc.
  • To offer an alternative rescue center for victims of sexual gender-based violence e.g. teenage girls, young women and the elderly in collaboration with the ministry of gender, ministry of health, ministry of education, churches etc.
